Zhongshan Institute, School of Public Health, Sun Yat-sen University
With the rapid development of the economy, science, and technology, public health problems are emerging one after another. It’s urgent to protect people’s health. Through closer cooperation between colleges and institutions for disease control and prevention, the goals of integrative scientific research development, talent cultivation, and disease control can be realized. The level of disease control and healthcare can achieve leap-type development by building platforms for all-round cooperation between schools of public health of comprehensive universities and local centers for disease control and prevention. Under such circumstances, the School of Public Health, Sun Yat-sen University, set up Zhongshan Institute together with Zhongshan Center for Disease Control and Prevention in November 2011. Professor Wenhua Ling and Professor Yongzhuang Cen are directors of Zhongshan Institute.
Following the principle of equal negotiation, mutual benefit, and complementary advantages, both parties have made great contributions to promote the development of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, to improve the level of disease control and prevention, and to explore a new cooperation pattern between schools of public health of comprehensive universities and local centers for disease control and prevention.
