Dr. Zhu got her Ph.D. in Toxicology from Sun Yat-sen University in 2002. She also holds a M.D. in Medicine and a M.S. in Nutrition and Food Hygiene. She undertook further training as a visiting scholar in University of Koupio in Finland during 2001-2002.

Dr. Zhu’s main research field is the dietary and nutrition on human health. She has been particularly interested in choline and betaine, as methyl donors on fatty liver disease and brain development in human and animal, and further their effects in preventing chronic disease, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome and tumor.

Dr. Zhu has been the recipient of 15 grants including 5 NSFC (The National Natural Science Foundation of China ) grants for studies on methyl donor. She published more than 60 research papers in recent years.
