Sun Yat-sen Global Health Institute

OVERVIEW AND MISSION 
Supported by the China Medical Board(CMB), Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) officially launched the Sun Yat-sen Global Health Institute (SGHI) on December 18th, 2015. While its core research members come from the School of Public Health, SGHI reaches out to the broader resources in social sciences through its affiliation with the Institute of State Governance at SYSU. We are dedicated to promoting health equity through cross-border, cross-disciplinary, and cross-institutional research, education, and practice in global Health.  We are committed to an institutional culture that fosters research transparency, collegiality, and teamwork.

PEOPLE 
SGHI now has 5 full-time faculty members , 21 adjunct faculty members, and 1 full-time research assistant.
 
EDUCATION 
In collaboration with our international partners, SGHI is developing its graduate-level program in global health. We will soon offer global health introductory courses for the entire university community, including Global Health Overview, Global Health Research Methodology, and Health System Comparison.
 
RESEARCH 
The core members of SGHI focus on health policy and system research in the context of global health. In its first three to five year of development, SGHI seeks health system solutions in response to various health conditions, especially the chronic and non-communicable diseases, while applying implementation sciences in research.
The more extensive research of SGHI taps into the strength of the existing public health, medicine and social science researches at SYSU, addressing important issues in global health, including climate change and air pollution, nutrition and chronic disease, mental health, emerging infectious disease, and burden of disease.
 
RECRUITMENT 
SGHI is currently open to global recruitment for research assistant professors, research associate professors, and research professors. We specially welcome talents with the background in Health Policy and Health System Sciences, Health Economics, Management, Political Economy, or Statistics for Social Sciences.
